19th Century European Neoclassical Mirror

Striking, balanced, and dramatic, this gorgeous stepped frame houses a substantial, heavy mirror. Solid wood covers the back and the front boasts a gorgeous array of fluting, guilloche banding, and classic acanthus leaves, pointing to Europe’s fascination with the ancient world. It’s in wonderful condition considering its age. Some small patches of loss, including the bottom of the frame and corners where a bit of compo has worn away and the underlying gesso shows through.
